Question

I was in the body/fender repair in mid 70's mostly paint work for GM Dealer. At the time we used acrylic laquer, synthetic enamel and they were just coming out with acrylic emamel.

Recently I've been wanting to do some painting and minor repairs on my own vehs.

What types of paints used today can you do spot repairing of the paint? Are they Spot repairable or do you have to paint the whole panel??

I used to be really good at spot repair with lacqer. Syn. Enamel you could not spot repair and had to paint the whole panel.

Right now I am dealing with GM and Hyundai vehicles.

Spot repair ing isn't an option with the new stuff. It looks better (than spot repairing) to color blend with basecoat then to clear the entire panel. Yes, Laquer was easy stuff- but it didn't hold up for years and years like urethane clearcoats will. It's just better in every way. Once you learn to use the new stuf, you will wonder why you didn't learn to use the new stuff sooner. Bill
