Question
My dad needs me to find out how to replace my right side mirror on my Ford Explorer.  Its a 97 XLT.  The mirror is power. Can you tell me how to remove the old one and put on a new one step by step? Is is possible for my dad and I to do this ourselves?

Answer
Take off the inside trim panel and the rest is simple. You will find screws near the armrest and possibly under the switch panel. I am not positive as to exactly where there might be anymore, I have not worked on one of these in a while. Around the bottom and sides are plastic snap clips I believe. Some models had a hook molded to the trim panel. If so, be very careful, they break very easy.
After all visible screws are removed, push straight up on the panel. If it does not release, look for more screws. If no more screws are found, pry out on one of the corners, see if you see a little white plug type clip, it will be one or the other.
 Good luck and be careful.
