Question
hi m8, have just brought my first car and well its laquer i think on the roof and hood are peeling its quite bad on the roof but only small on the hood. is there anyway i can personally fix it without taking it to the garage or do i have to?? i think it called the laquer. its basically the top clear layer on the car where its has peeled off. thanks m8.

Answer
Jake, I SERIOUSLY  doubt that you have a laquer finish on your car, Nobody has used laquer paint since the 1980's. The peeling can only be fixed my stripping all the old color and clear coat off the car- you can't just remove the chalking/peeling clearcoat and paint clear over top of it. You can do it yourself at home if you have access to the proper equipment like a spray gun and air tools, but be warned- it's not as easy as they make it look on American Hot rod. Unless the car is a total hoopdie, I would highly suggest having it professionally repaired and painted. Bill
