Question
QUESTION: hi i have a question if it is a problem to cut all rust out and cut patch and rivit and seam seal the patch in then under coat bottom and rocker gaurd all inner floors after being rust removed my main problem is behind the front wheel wells between the unibody fram and rockers but its about 2" away from either side and i just dont  want to weld anything i figure if it isnt structual it would be fine . thanks

ANSWER: Hi Anthony,

If it's not a structural repair that should be fine. You might also consider gluing the panels in. 3M makes an adhesive that is stronger than a weld. (http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_automix_panel.cfm) The only issue you may run into is it takes a special gun for application. (http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_3m_08117.cfm) However, here is a link to one that is a little cheaper if you feel like this is the way you want to go: (http://www.repaintsupply.com/pd_67.cfm) Good luck with it and I hope this helps you out.

QUESTION: can i use this adhesive to fully replace the floor pans if i got full oem replacement pannels if it is stonger than weld it should be fine im thinking so just need some advice on what i should do thank you

Answer
Hi Anthony,

3M recommends that if it is a structural repair it should be welded in certain areas. I personally believe this recommendation to be more for liability issues than anything. They basically don't want the liability if something was to come apart and injure someone during an accident.

This adhesive will do a great job for replacing floor pans. Make sure you grind the mating surfaces down to bare metal.
