Auto body repair & detailing/Auto Body Prep

Question
I'm want to prepare my VW beetle before I take it to a Body Shop to get paint.  Is it better if I stripped off all the paint down to the metal and then bring it to the body shop or bring it there all primered up?

Answer
I will not work on a car that the customer has done his own work for the simple reason, I can not guarantee the work. Take it to the shop of your choice and ask them before you start. If you do a bunch of work on that car and the shop has to redo most of it, it will cost you a lot more than if you just had them do it in the first place. Check around for shops that specialize in restoration, a lot of shops won't do old cars.
