Auto body repair & detailing/Golf cart repainting

Question
Just recently bought a Yamaha golf cart. Body is in fair shape, but several repair spots and a repainting job is needed. Around many of the bends of the plastic body, hairline cracks are showing thru the paint. A local body shop said they could repaint for around $500, but the cracks would show back up. Not wanting to spend that much, and being pretty handy, I was wondering if can these spots be filled and sanded and painted without them showing back up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Answer
The Yamaha golf carts are a plastic and not fiberglass so it will be difficult to repair the cracks. If the cracks are not all the way through, you could just fill them and hope for the best. If they are through, you can use a good epoxy glue. Go to your local auto body supply store and tell them what you have, there are several plastic repair adhesives on the market, 3M makes the best. Good luck.
