Auto body repair & detailing/paint job

Question
Say you buy a new car. How long should the paint last before is starts to oxidize or fade?

Answer
Hi Justin,

It depends on how it's cared for and the color. It should last around 5-7 years without oxidizing. Fading will strictly depend on the color. I had a red car that was only a couple of years old and when I was working on it I took a molding off and the color underneath was a brighter, more vivid shade of red. Not real bad, but a good color eye would notice it.
