Auto body repair & detailing/Car Paint

Question
Had a minor accident in my own driveway ... need your help.  Seems to me that growing up, my dad had something in the garage that removed "stuff" from car paint, as in paint from another car.  It was in a jar and he applied it with a cloth and like magic, "stuff" rubbed off.  Have you heard of such a product?  Thanks.

Answer
It was probably just good old 3M super duty rubbing compound, and some good old elbow grease. If the car isn't white or silver, you can use a little oven cleaner to remove paint such as house paint or the yellow paint they paint those steel posts they put next to gas pumps. If it's a white or silver car, the oven cleaner stains the paint. Bill
