Question
Hi Michael,

I would like to find out under what circumstances will a vehicle's generator warning lights are turned on?

Am I right to assume that generator light will be off so long as my vehicle's batteries are being charged when the engine is moving and converting the movement energy into electrical power for my batteries?

Thanks in advance!

Gerald

Answer
GERALD.....I AM GOING TO ASSUME THAT BY GENERATOR YOU MEAN ALTERNATOR WHICH CONVERTS POWER FROM AC TO DC. IF YOUR LIGHT IS ON YOU MAY HAVE A BAD BATTERY OR SHORT IN THE CIRCUIT.

I WOULD HAVE A LOAD TEST DONE ON THE BATTERY TO CHECK ITS STATE AND THEN HAVE THE ALTERNATOR TESTED AS WELL....THAT SHOULD POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
