I have an Oldsmobile with a repaint job from 1980.  It has been garaged over most of those years when not in use.  There's still some shine to the paint.  It hasn't been waxed in those years.  I acquired the car recently and would like to properly take care of the paint.  What would you suggest to restore the paint, and then what kind of maintainance?  Would you recommend the use of a paint sealant?

I would recommend using a compound to take off any minor oxidation. Next, use a machine glaze to bring out the shine followed by a good quality automotive wax that contains carnuba. I'm not a big fan of paint sealants. In my opinion, wax it once every three months if it's garage kept and driven occasionally or once per month if it sits out all the time. 3M makes some great products that would do you a good job.
