Question
I have a dodge neon that has faded spots on the hood and on the top of car (from the sun?)the paint is gone from these spots and they are grey. Only have a couple but they are making the car look bad. Is there anything I can use that would cover these spots? (Can I spot paint them? if so - how - what would I use it.

Answer
Shirley,

I do not have the expertise to answer whether the spots can be painted themselves.

What you have is the clearcoat breaking down. I have to assume that the car is 8 - 10 years old. When the clearcoat starts to breakdown like this, the entire hood should be repainted. Because the clearcoat and the paint work together to form a bound and give you the original look of the car. I don't think spot painting would be a good idea. There is no way to hide or cover the spots.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Bob
