Question

2002 Crown Vic
Hi There!

I have a 2002 Crown Victoria Police Intercepter that I crashed a week ago.  A car collided into the two doors on the driver's side.  The doors and the uniside and frame will probably need to be replaced.

I do not have collision insurance on this car because I only paid $2,000 for the car and it didn't make sense to buy collision insurance.

I have found people that say it is repairable and gotten some fairly decent estimates.  But I'm trying to decide if it would be smart to fix this car.  Would it be a safe thing to try to save this car?  What do you think could be involved in repairing this car?

I have considered selling this car as is and getting another cop car, but then I would have to repair another police car to get it up to par.  I hate to have to start from scratch when I have already poured money into the car I've got.  But maybe that's the best thing to do.

It has been an absolutly wonderful car!  It has 124,000 miles on it and I have had no mechanical problems since I've had the car (2 years ago).  It could go for another 3 more years I think.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Looks pretty bad- What were you quoted to fix it? You're gonna have 4,000.00 in a 2000.00 car- If you don't think you can find a better car for what it costs to fix this one, then have it fixed- but I wouldn't put more than a couple grand in it, tho. Bill
