Auto body repair & detailing/Silver base coat

Question
I'm spraying silver base coat and having black shades show  after the clear is applied. What can be done to prevent this?

Answer
Hi James , One of the hardest colors to spray is silver...Check the spray pattern on your gun, Pattern should be a nicely formed oblong shape- even paint in the complete pattern. If this checks out ok be sure that your base paint is mixed proper and that you are allowing sufficient time between coats. Gun distance from the surface and travel speed are also important. If it is really giving you a problem try turning up the air pressure and holding the gun farther away from the panel along with quicker passes.Be sure to overlap your spraypattern by 1/2 on each coat. Do not over flood the area, medium wet coat is best.Make sure you have uniformity color coverage prior to clearcoating. Hope this helps and please let me know if this info works for you.Thankyou.......Kim
