Question
If I am painting a door that i repaired and want to blend it into the fender, what do i need to do to the fender to prepare it for the blend? Does it need a wet sanding to remove the shine and if so what sandpaper should i use?

Answer
Hi Al, There are a few methods you can use to prep for a blend. One is to simply clean the panel with a rubbing compound. I have worked in shop that use this method and I do not recommend it as the clearcoat can peel away. The second way is to use 3Ms matting compound in conjunction with water and a white scotch pad until surface is dull.  This product works very well...The third way is to wet sand the panel with P1000 wet paper...Hope this info helps and all the best to you..........Kim
