Auto body repair & detailing - 350z bumper ding

Expert: DANIEL GARDENER - 5/31/2009

Question
I have a inch long scratch on my black bumper that shows as a dent from
certain angles.  Rather than heating it or taking it somewhere to sand it down
and re-paint it, will using the clear coat applicator pen from the "as seen on tv
guys" possibly work or will it not fill the dent and look sloppy?

Answer
HEY NICK

UNLESS YOU HAVE USED A HEAT GUN BEFORE,I WOULD NOT ADVISE THAT YOU TRY IT , THE 350Z IS TO NICE OF A CAR TO RISK THE POSSIBILITY OF EXCESSIVE HEAT BEING APPLIED TO THE PAINT AND PLASTIC. A CLEAR COAT APPLICATION WILL NOT ACHIEVE WHAT YOU WANT. YOU HAVE  TWO POSSIBLE CHOICES....TOUCH IT UP WITH SOME BLACK PAINT AND LIVE WITH IT  OR HAVE A GOOD BODY SHOP FIX IT AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT WAS NEVER THERE.
LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT.

DAN
