My driver side door fuly opens . It use to stop about half way before going to a full position now it just flings open . I am afarid  in the future when I'm parked somewhere I'll dent the car door next to me when I open my door. Is this a simple repair ?

 It sounds like the door stop/check has :broken,pin fell out,bolts came loose...
first go to other side and observe how IT works. cant remember if it is part of door hinge or a seperate  stopper. suggest having it repaired at a Body Shop,they may have a spare leftover part.   beware the door could come back and hurt YOU also.
