Auto body repair & detailing - clear coat

Expert: Bob - 7/23/2009

Question
My 1998 Chev pu has a couple of quarter size spots that look like the clear coat has bubbled up. Is there an at home fix for that or an over the counter product that will smooth it out and/or cover it up?

Answer
The clear coat and the paint work in conjunction with each other. Once one goes the other is sure to follow.

I advise anyone with this type of problem that it's time for a paint job. If you can't afford a paint job at this point or don't want to put the money into the vehicle, pick up some clear coat touch up paint. It won't look pretty, but it will slow down the deterioration.

Hope this helps,

Bob
