Question
My son and I are restoring a 66 Mustang in Alabama.  I have 2 experts on paint telling me 2 different answers on clear coat for our paint job.  One is saying that 20-21 concept is the best for the job.  The other is saying that D893 Clear – PPG Global (PPG’s best line)is the best for the job.  Can you help?

Answer
Hi Scott,

Honestly, both of those products are excellent. They are both PPG products but they are sold under different product lines. DCU2021 is sold under the Deltron line while D893 is sold under the Global line. It actually boils down to painter's preference. I know a couple of different restoration shops and they both use DCU2021. I think the main reason is because DCU2021 is sold over the counter through any PPG store and is very readily available to anyone who wants to buy it. Many paint stores don't sell Global products over the counter unless going to a body shop.

The short answer is either product will do you a great job.
