Auto body repair & detailing/welding

Question
Thanks Bill on your reply.
The spot/stitch guns may be a recent technology and these attach to the arc welder so the panels are not welded directly with the stick but by pulsating action through the gun.
Do you know anyone who has done it this way and did it work.
I am a complete (enthusiast) novice with no much money and would like to have something simple, easy to work with and not expensive. My welding would be 2-3 times a year and would include metals "heavier" than just a body panels.
Thanks for your time.
Rgds

Answer
Peter,I have not tried this setup. I do have a complete  outfit  given to me by someone  who could not get it to work satisfactorily .I will have to dig out my BUZZ box and hook it up and see ,it's hard to go back to old technology ,[not to old to relearn stuff].Peter I will dig it out this weekend and give it a try buzz-buzz,. check back next week for report. My welder is a Marquette 235 amp AC buzz box bought new in 1968  still works great to weld heavy metals . I also have a Marquette spot welding gun that uses iron coated self starting 3/32" rods [ wow a flash back ] nothing beats a good MIG.good luck  give it a try  may be ok for your work .HTH Bill
