Auto body repair & detailing/Gouge on edge of Hyundai Sonata rear panel

Question
I have a gouge about 1.5" wide by 1" high by 1" deep on the right edge of the body panel next to my rear passenger door. Replacing the entire panel, which is otherwise undamaged, would cost over $1000. I have read several DIY articles about using Bondo for this kind of repair. All say that it is a practical solution, of moderate difficulty. Do you agree that it is a practical solution?

Answer
Rob....sounds like you have some deep damage on your quarter panel..... The correct way to repair
is to weld hole back together if possible and then use filler to make smooth.

The interior trim panels and interior may require removal. I don't think that slapping some bondo over something that deep is a good idea.

Good Luck
