Question
i know not your expertise, just need any ideas at this point. have a 1999 subaru forester/automatic transmission and won't shift out of park... the gear button won't do anything, can't push it in... any thoughts at all? i appreciate any help. thanks.

Answer
CHERYL......THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP SO THAT THEY CAN DIOGNOSE.

IT MAY BE THAT THEY HAVE TO REMOVE YOUR SHIFTER TRIM AND INSPECT THE MECHANICS...MEANING THAT THERE IS USUALLY A CABLE THAT ATTACHES FROM YOUR SHIFTER TO A LINKAGE AND SOMETIMES THAT CABLE WILL
GET TWISTED,LOOSE,BREAK OR WEAR OUT. THIS WOULD PREVENT YOU FROM SHIFTING OUT OF PARK.

THATS ALL I GOT.......

GOOD LUCK AND LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY SAY.....
