Question
mike,i need help. i have a 2000 grandam gt with dent in door, it is in the middle of the door ,i have repaired the dent now and wanting to prime and paint it. do i need to sand the door down to the base coat, and spray the whole door .or can i spray over the clear coat and then re-clear . please help. thanks

Answer
STEVE.........IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT TYPE OF PAINT YOU ARE PLANNING TO USE...BASE/CLEAR OR SINGLE STAGE.

IF YOU ARE USING A BASE COAT CLEAR COAT THEN YOU HAVE TO PUT THE BASE COAT OVER THE PRIMERED AREA AND MOVE IT OUT PAST THE REPAIR...THEN CLEAR COAT THE ENTIRE PANEL.
SAND THE WHOLE DOOR DOWN WITH 400 0R FINER.

IF YOU ARE USING A SINGLE STAGE PAINT YOU HAVE TO APPLY A SEALER TO THE ENTIRE DOOR AND THEN PAINT.
