Question
I have a chrysler sebring 2008. The grill looks as if it is some kind of enamel lined with chrome. I don't know what to apply to it to restore its luster.  Also there is a black strip that extends from the top of the car just above the doors that extends to the back of the rear windshield. It seems to have lost its luster as well. What can I apply to it to restore its luster?
The grill that I am describing is standard on all the 2008 sebrings. Please Please Please Help me!

Answer
Bebai,

Welcome to the world of throw away parts. Most of what you describe is sun or UV damage.

As I am not specifically familiar with this grill I can only make an assumption or best guess. It will probably have to be replaced. Once the chrome or plastic starts to deteriorate there is no way to repair it that I know of.

The black strip can sometimes be cleaned with an all purpose cleaner and a Mr. Clean magic sponge. This may take some of the UV damage and discolor off. Apply a good vinyl/plastic preservative. You will probably have do to this procedure every few months.

Hope this helps,

Bob
