Auto body repair & detailing/Black 2010 Tundra rock guard

Question
Hello, I'm having an issue with my Black 2010 Tundra. It got side swiped in the bed by a plow and now my autobody shop is telling me that the rockguard finish on the lower edge of the truck can not be matched the same as the factory finish? The truck is three months old and the issue has to do with the final finish of the factory rock guard on the lower 12 inches of the bed and the cab. They say Toyota does not sell the rock guard and it is applied differently at the factory than how autobody shops can apply it. How can this be that they can't match the finish on a brand new truck? Should I be looking elsewhere? It is a Toyota dealer autobody shop. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Justin
Regrettably, the shop is correct. What we do at our collision shop is the same. Sometimes we may have to do the whole lower side to match it, but the rock guard from the factory on all vehicles is different than the product available at a shop level. I hope this helps
