Question
Hello: I have a 2010 EX-L Civic bought new in late 2009.I have a two part question.I opted for the corrosion control module system to protect against rust formation. How much do these devices slow down rust formation, and are they effective for body surface rust? I have just discovered a stone chip on the back window frame.I bought a tube of touch-up paint with the car.Do I have to sand the damaged spot before applying the paint,or just clean it with acetone? The damage seems not to have penetrated the base coat.
Thanks!

Answer
Hello Michael

Yes Michael, the package you get at the point of sale does some good, but you must reapply it every year to ensure nothing untoward slips by unnoticed
The chip area should be cleaned and then touched up. Sanding is not required to stop the rust from spreading. Keep an eye on it and reapply the touch up paint every couple of months
Hope this helps
