Auto body repair & detailing/91 V1500 rear gate sill replacement

Question
I have a 1991 Chevy V1500 Suburban. It has a drop down gate, and I need to replace the rear sill on the body that supports the gate. Is this support bolt in?

Answer
The entire rear body section is welded together on your suburban. Is your rear body panel rusted out, or have you suffered collision damage? Used welded panels are a real bear to put in, much more so if there has been collision damage. You will have a difficult time lining up the gate if the rear body is pushed in, and not pulled back out before attempting to install a new or used panel. If you aren't sure if you can tackle this, see a professional. This is a structural repair, and not really the realm of the home handy man. It's a serious repair, and only proper welding and fitting will produca a lasting, desirable result. Bill
