Auto body repair & detailing/Civic side panel replacement

Question
Hi, Ernie.
I just had a hit-and-run with my 2000 Honda Civic 2dr.  Visible damages are to the driver side door and the front panel (above front wheel).  The front panel has been damaged enough so that my door now does not open enough for me to get in through the driver side.  Assumimg both panels need to be replaced, what is your best guess on the cost of repair?  (parts, labor, etc.)  And what are your thoughts on Body Shop vs. repait/service shops for something like this?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Guesstimate at about 2500 to 3000 dollar range.A larger shop might be able to discount parts, but a smaller shop might provide better service. The best referral is always other peoples past experiences.A temporary fix, get a large screwdriver an pry the fender away from the door so you can get in and out.
