Question
Do you know of any modern products to repair a 1969 GTO
endura bumper. My bumper need extensive repair. The corners on both sides are gone and there is a lot of hair line cracks in the rubber. I would need something to rebuild the corners and then maybe something else to coat the entire bumper with.
NOS bumpers are nonexistent, repro do not fit, I need to find out about fixxing to one I have.
Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Hello Chris! Bad news, I'm afraid, Your bumper is just plain decomposing, and nothing short of divine intervention is going to stop it. Once it starts chunking out, well, game over. Another point to ponder for you- the NOS bumpers didn't fit good, either. Going with a repro is about your only option, and it will be a heck of a lot easier to trim up and fit a repro than to repair the original. If you really feel like wasting a hundred bucks worth of bumper repair material, and probably 20 hours of your free time, use SEM bumper repair material for flexible bumpers. It's available anywhere that sells professional automotive paint. However, I won't promise you that your repairs won't start showing back through even before you get it painted, and I give it a total life of 2 years before it becomes a real eyesore on the car. Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but I'm here to educate people, and save them from making costly mistakes- monetarily, and chronologically. Have a great evening. Bill
