I have a 1994 ranger long bed that is in need of some rust repair on the rear wheel archs and rear lower corner panel. I have access to an arc welder which i know is not a good type of welding to use on body repair. I was wondering of what ways i could attach a new fender arc and lower rear quarter panel without rivets or screws showing. I could try to use the arc welder but last time i tried i didn't have much luck, i just kept burning through the metal. which rod would you suggest if i do go this route and any techniques to make this repair look as good as possible?

Go to Napa, or a similar parts store, and buy some SEM panel adhesive. Glue the patch on, temporarily secure it with rivets while drying. I usually leave them in, then mix more adhesive, and smear it over the seam like bondo. Then, I sand it down, like bondo, and finish coat it with USC Icing, PN 26006. It sands easy, and is non staining. Be patient, let the glue dry 24 hours, be sure to grind the hell out of everything, including the back side of the patch, so the adhesive will stick. Bill
