Question
Hi,

I recently bought a used Silver Honda Accord 2000 Coupe. One my very first drive, while pulling out from parking along the street, I bumped a little forcefully into the car in front and cracked (horizontal) the front bumper somewhere in the center. Luckily, no damage was done to the other car. I want to get this corrected, either repair it or replace it, professionally or by myself. So, my question is, should I repair it with "Bondo" and refinish it with paint or replace it entirely? And can I do it myself or not? I am fairly handy with most of the jobs but have never dealt with external car body. Please advise.

Thanks,
Niraj

Answer
Hello Niraj! It takes special repair material to repair a bumper cover. I highly suggest having a professional do the job. It maay be cheaper to replace the cover with an aftermarket cover than to repair it. If you don't know how to paint, that is the last nail in the coffin as far as a home repair goes. The best repairs are the ones you never know were ever done. Novice repairs almost always show themselves. Bill
