Auto body repair & detailing/Paint with or without removing fixed glass

Question
I have two bids on fixing a dent in the rear quarter panel of an Acura MDX. The major difference is that on one they are removing the fixed glass (glass does not have a gasket) window above the rear panel, the other is not. The damage is about 12 inches from the bottom of the glass. The second estimator says that he doesn't remove the glass because can tape the glass and has enough room to get the paint and sealant down in between the glass and metal for good adhesion. Question is am I asking for trouble if they don't remove the window.

Answer
Yes, the paint quality might be marginally better with the glass out, but do you want to risk possible water leaks, or a scratch if the glass installer slips with the knife? Now, if the damage was right next to the glass, or the quarter was being replaced, yes, remove the glass. In your case, Leave the glass alone. Do yourself a favor, and don't give yourself ulcers over a simple repair. Bill
