Auto body repair & detailing/Wavy surface after dent repair

Question
I recently had a small fist sized "oil can" (?) dent in the door of my 2004 Mazda RX-8. After I picked the up I noticed a slight wavy or distored look to the reflections coming off the area repaired. I couldn't realy feel any unevenness. When I asked about it, the body shop said that it was not unusual as the paint and filler had to  "settle". I was told to leave it for 3 weeks and then if it's still not right to come back and they would buff it out. I smell a rat. Am I being had or is this normal?

Answer
After the primer and paint dry fully it all shrinks down slightly thus leaving a ring around the repair area. This will be able to be water sanded then buffed to fix the problem. If not I am sure they will stand behind the repair if they are a good shop.
            Thank you for the question!
