Auto body repair & detailing/Wrong Bumper

Question
I got into an auto accident and rear ended some one's car. I had to get my bumper replaced and it looks like the auto body shop replaced the bumper with another Toyota Sienna XLE model. I have the LE model. He says that he put the correct one on but I can tell the difference. I also see that he made a modification and cut a peice of the grill out. What should I do? Should i call my insurance company or just talk to the Owner of the shop?

Answer

If you can- give the shop the opportunity to make it right with you. If he is a reputable shop he should have an interest in your satisfaction and a need to maintain relations with the insurer. Tell him that you are entitled to pre loss condition. Ask him if he still has the old bumper cover so you can inspect it- or refer to the images of the damage. If he doesn't have them the insurer certainly will. If you are unable to convince him to supply a correct bumper, call the insurance company and request their assistance. If he is a direct repair facility recommended by them, they will surely get involved. Good Luck, Mark
