Question
i am tring to take the clear coat off a ranger bass boat i dont no if it was put on in the factory or by some else . everyone tells me to use a fine grit wet sand paper but when i do this i make little to no progress .. in someplace i  can chip in off with a razor another slow process. any advice on how to remove this clear coat with damageing the paint underneath maybe a solvent or something
thanks

Answer
Sorry to let you know this ,b ut it is a gel cvoat, not clearcoat. The only way to remove it is to sand it off. Fine grit takes too long, there is little hope for you to remove just the clear without getting into the paint. I suggest sanding with a 320 grit and re painting and clearing.
