can u add more micro flakes to metallic enamel paint i was gona buy flakes so i can add it 2 da enamel but dont know if i can

Answer
Hello Fernando! Yes, you can add more flakes to the color, but it will change the color. The more flake, the lighter the color will be. Talk to whoever you plan to purchase the enamel from about how much you can get away with. You might try adding larger, colored flakes but be stingy with the flakes. Regular sized flakes can be pretty subtle, and will only lighten the color, without giving the custom effect you want. Before painting the entire car, Make a large test panel, at least a foot by a foot, mix a small amount of color and flake, and spray the color you make (on the panel)to see of you like it. I really suggest checking into the custom colors the paint company has, and look into base coat/clear coat, or tri-coat colors. They can be really expensive, though, and you really need some experience with painting to apply these custom finishes. The cost alone justifies having experienced painters apply high dollar finishes.
