Auto body repair & detailing/passenger window shattered

Question
My husband was weed whacking and a rock flew up and shattered our passenger door window on our 97 escort.  What is the cheapest way to replace/fix it?  Is it a do it yourself-able project or will we have to take it in?  could we put something permanent on the door so it's still see-through but maybe cheaper than a replacement window?  Thanks!

Answer
If you take the car to a auto glass shop you will save a lot of money verses a dealer. Also some salvage yards offer cheap installation if you buy the glass from them.I cannot give you instructions on installing the glass yourself without having more info,2 or 4 door ,front or rear door etc. There is no inexpensive alternative other than clear plastic and duct tape.Expect to pay 100 to 200 dollars for glass and installation.
