Question
I noticed today the roof of my pick up truck the paint was white and scally, rough to the touch. 10 year old dodge. All of the sudden no earlier signs. I washed the truck 2 weeks ago and don't recall rinsing off the roof after soaping up with my rain dance car wash. It was a sunny day of course when I did it. Not sure if this is what caused this but that is what I suspect. I've attempted polish compound and cleaner wax, but did not change much. It looks deep into the clear coat. Can this be fixed with out repainting.

This can possibly resolved with wet sanding, depending how deep it is.  Bring it to a detail shop for an real hands on answer.  They may be able to save it.  I really doubt you caused the problem.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Many times, top sections of a vehicle will go bad, even when the rest looks fine.  Just happened the other day - I detailed a Cadillac and the trunk lid was just like the roof of your truck from the sound of it, and the rest looked great.
