Question
When i seem to double click on mtext to edit it the property palette just appears rather than letting me edit the text. I have had this problem for a while but it never used to happen. I have tried contacting our supplier but they have been no help. As you can imagine this is very annoying as I have to keep right clicking on the text and go down to mtext edit. if you could help it would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Sarah

Answer
It always helps to specify the version of AutoCAD you are running.
Sometimes, in any version, it helps just to restart your computer.  (It's a Windows thing).

In AutoCAD 2007 or later, there is a setting in CUI that you can check and change.  Be sure to back up your CUI file before changing it.  As soon as CUI opens you should be able to see a heading called "Double Click Actions".  If it already says MTEXT EDIT, then, this is not the problem.  Cancel out of CUI, if MTEXT EDIT is already there.  You can only have one action in there at a time, for each object type, so, you find a command in the window underneath and drag it to the Double Click Action that you want to replace.  Then click OK at the bottom of the CUI window.  If MTEXT wasn't there, but it is now, because you put it in, double-clicking MTEXT should start working.
Remeber to back up your menu.  If you don't do that, and you edit the CUI menu, and make an error, your menu could become invalid and not recoverable.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
