Question
QUESTION: We just switched some workstations from windows2000 to Windows XP.  Now we cannot print large tabloid size drawings as we used to.  Is there a conflict in the printing when running this older version of mech desktop and windows xp (64)?

ANSWER: Jill:
Sometimes TABLOID is referred to as LEDGER.  See if that size is listed.  If not, see if you can do a Custom Paper Size (11"x17").
In the meantime, I'll check on your question on an Autodesk newsgroup for printing and plotting.

BTW, I wouldn't do ANYTHING 64 bit just yet.  I would wait until it would be almost impossible to use 32-bit anymore.  It's not always good to jump on the bandwagon of what Microsoft would call "progress".

QUESTION: We tried your recommendations and they did not work.  I hope ACad has some advise.  Our older xp workstations (2 yrs old,not 64 bit)have the same issue.  Those designers tend to use solidworks so we did not realize this issue until i started switching Autocad designers over to xp workstations this month.

Answer
OK.  So, let's talk about the 32-bit machines for now.  Do you have updated drivers for the printers/plotters in question?  What brand and models of printers do you have?  Are you using XP Pro or XP home?

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
