AutoCAD/Adding multiple polyline values

Question
Can autocad add the value of multiple polylines for me?  I highlighted a bunch of polylines and hoped I could "LIST" the value of the total length of all the P-lines, it didn't work.  I can LIST the lenght of each line then add them myself, but it seems there's an easier way.  Can you help?

Answer
Have you tried joining the plines together and then getting a total length??   Or are they separate plines from each other??

There are plenty of lisp routines available that I know can do what you're asking.

If you're using a newer version of Autocad, say 2008 or 2009, there's even a data extract function where you can extra them all to an excel format, have the lengths displayed on their own lines or just have them all totaled at the end.

More than one was to do it is what I'm saying I guess.

Let me know if I've inspired any ideas for you.
