Question
As a civil Drafter for many years now working in Structural, there are many menu items lacking in the basic 2007 version I'm using. Utilities being a big one with symbols and leaders. Is it possible to download these two files from my home Civil 2006 Land desk top and put it on my computer @ work?

Answer
Nancy:
CUI has the ability to create a partial CUI file that you can load on any AutoCAD installation.  Create the partial CUI at home, test it thoroughly, before bringing it to work.  It will be read-only on the earlier version of AutoCAD.  Use the Transfer tab at home to transfer menu items from one menu (customization file) to the other. If you saved any images in the menu, they will be stored in an MNR file of the same name.  Make sure that goes to work with you as well.  Back up your menus before you start working.  In the beginning, before you know your way around really well in the menu system, hit OK and test what you've done and make doubly sure that what you did didn't ruin your menu.  Every time you test, back up the menu again.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
