AutoCAD/lines

Question
Does Autocad always measure distance from the center of a line? If you draw a thick line, can you make Autocad measure from the lines outside/inside?

Answer
Kristine, you can measure (dimension) a line from end pt to end pt,  mid pt to end pt, etc. However, you can't really dimension the width of a polyline since you can't snap to the ends of its thickness. The only way to know its width is to envoke 'list' command or check its the properties (ctrl+1).
Just for clarity, a line has 0 width where as a polyline can have any width you specify.
Hope this helps!
