Question
mr. deshawn, i am very new at linking an excel file to my autocad drawing but i do know how to copy and paste into to drawing and edit. that all works fine, but theres a huge problem when i save as my drawing with the pg1 excel file still link but i need for it to be pg2 of the excel file to match with the dwg2. the purpose of this is when i finish around 15 dwgs with the linked excel file (material list) i want to be able to print out the excel file and print my 15 dwg files with material list linked. is there an easier way to do this besides copying and pasting each pg from my excel file into each drawing. i am using 2009 autocad.

Answer
Trevor:  Sorry for taking as long as I did on this one.  I had to do a little research.  I don't use the program myself, but there is one that is highly recommended that is put out by DOTSOFT.com that will let you link multiple areas from multiple sheets on multiple workbooks.  Even if you move the named range from one sheet
to another in the workbook, the program still finds it for updating.

The program is XL2CAD and a trial version is downloadable at:
http://www.dotsoft.com/xl2cad.htm

Without a program like that, you're not going to be able to see multiple sheets of one EXCEL file.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
