Question
when i convert the auto cad dwg from inches to mm by giving scale factor 25.4 the dwg gets convert but the dimension doesnot so i want the dimension should also get convert automatically when i give the scale factor to the dwg

Answer
Mohammad:
I believe there is a fundamental mistake you are making.  It appears that you may have scaled the objects in your drawing by 25.4.  If that's not the case, please follow up and tell me.  But if it is the case, then I must ask you to scale the objects back down again to 1/25.4, which will make them 1 inch =  1 inch.  After that, your dimensions should have the DIMLFAC system variable changed to 25.4 for the dimensions to read the size in millimeters.

If I am not making sense, please let me know, and I will advise you how you can send me a copy of the drawing.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
