AutoCAD/Ignore first request, but have a new one

QuestionHi Bob,
I sent an email just a minute ago... figured out the symbol did come through, however its such a small scale it was barely noticable. So now my question is,
1. how do I get the symbol to come into the drawing in a larger scale?
2. Once in the drawing, can I change the scale?
Thank you!
Ps. I am interior designer.
Thanks!
AnswerHi
-- first, as you now see, it is a good idea to zoom to extents and select everything, to see if the object is there someplace. If the object was created with an insertion point that is not on the object, it could come in at a surprising location
--- second, (its Sunday, I am too lazy to open AutoCAD, and the releases I have here are much newer, changes have been made)-- when you insert, you are going to get either a dialog box or command prompts for the scale.
--- third, the object would normally come in on the current layer, which is on, so you would see it
--- forth, if it is an image, enlarge it with the grips it has when highlighted. If it is a block, symbol, etc -- type SCALE and be sure you pick ON the object when you scale it up. Obviously, a symbol or block coming in tiny means the symbol was made wrong or inserted wrong (as long as all your drawings are made at 1:1 scale)
Last, I always tell people to have a good AutoCAD book nearby. And I always mention that upgrading LT might cost $1000, including a new book, plus your time to learn the 7 years of progress you have missed, and the holes in your existing knowledge. If you use AutoCAD constantly, the new releases are big timesavers, and give you more directed choices while working. LT2009 should be out in 6-8 weeks.
If you are drawing architectural plans, sections, details, etc. more than rarely -- perhaps you should be on AutoCAD Architecture, if you have a good business and can invest in that.
