Question
I am using AutoCAD 2008. I have a ctb file set up and all of my line weights are plotting fine except the dashed lines. The dashed lines look solid in paper space and they plot as solid lines. Can you help?

Answer
Hi --
You need to read up on LTSCALE and PSLTSCALE in HELP or in a good book. It's too long for me to explain here (several pages of a book)
--- and perhaps some review in how to set up viewports and layouts.

Thanks for remembering to tell me the release, but you left out your own experience level.  The fact that you are using a ctb makes me wonder if you are a longtime user (since stbs are the newer), but a long time user would know the linetype scale thing, so???????

You make the error of mentioning lineweights, which refer to the width of the line -- this distracts you from the actual issue.
Your problem is that the dashes are so tiny they appear to be a continous line (or so large that each dash is bigger than any line -- but not in this case, as you describe it).

Not to be rude, but understanding that the scale of the lines is the problem is VERY basic, so I am going to suggest that you have a good AutoCAD book near you, and go through all the chapters, in case you may need assistance with other basic knowledge. With a good book, and knowing how to use HELP, one gets stuck much more rarely.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
