AutoCAD/Wipeouts

Question
Bob

I have been using AutoCAD for about a year as an apprentice in the engineering Industry, i am currently doing Fire and Gas Layout Work in model space,

the problem I'm having with wipeouts is that i have already created instrument blocks with wipeouts behind them, they were perfectly fine last week but now when i open the drawing, the wipeout is in front of the instrument symbol so when i come to plot the work, instead of there being a symbol in places, there is just a blank space from where the wipeout is on top,

how do i put the wipeout behind the symbol when it's already been blocked, or do i have to re-write the blocks again, if i do have to re-write them, then how do i stop it from happening in the future???

Many Thanks

Answer
HI
-- sorry, HUGE differences in block editing in recent releases.

You risk doing yourself a disservice anytime you ask an AutoCAD question without being clear what release you are on --it comes across as naive, as if you think the program never changes (sorry).

I posed your question to my friend a longtime AutoCAD instructor for the major animation/theme park company in the world. He had to ask someone else, so I can probably now help you if I have facts.

In the case of blocks which need help --- YOU MUST include whether you are talking about 50 instances of one block in one drawing or 20 different blocks, etc.  (did you know that fixing one instance of block A fixes all the others???)
And you must name the country you are in-- most of the questions are foreign, thus Metric.

In addition
-- did you create the blocks in this drawing?  On modern AutoCAD, I would create, say all instrument blocks in a drawing called "INS BLOCKKS.dwg" make sure they are on my correct layer, and drag them into my tool palette.

Write back with the entire story, please, and I will help. I preach that one must have a book at hand and understand how to use HELP and online resources --- you have started to get there, because you have asked me this question.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
