Question
Hello Bob,
Are you familiar with Autodesk Inventor... and if so, can you make a recommendation for a book/tutorial that is most helpful in starting out?  I know little about it but am in the process of teaching myself.  I tried Lynda.com and it is not avaiable there.  Thank you for your insight/suggestions.

Best
Susan

Answer
Hi __ I have no idea what that place you looked is.  And you give me no help at all by not mentionind your background, tak, abilities, and skill level, nor even the release # of Inventor (but lots of questioners do that) Remember, folks learn a software for a purpose or to work within a particular field, not for general knowledge, and I like to help them get to that purpose.

I have only toyed around with Inventor, but everyone I know likes it.

As always, I would put Autodesk Inventor Book and  Autodesk Inventor Tutorial into Google. I woul be surprised if some tutorials dont come with the program. under HELP, as with other Adesk software.

Here is a link to an article by my friend Lynn Allen ___http://lynn.blogs.com/Booklets/3134136_making_the_leap.pdf

Here is a book from Autodesk Press, usually the best place. But see if others appeal to you more.  ---http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0766828670/ref=sib_dp_pt/102-6019017-8893752#reader-link

I am truly against self-learning, even for geniuses. It leads to bad habits and wasting a lot of valuable time, making any book seem cheap. There may be community college courses near you.

Good luck -- read Lynn's article and search the Autodesk websites for Inventor tips, tutorials, etc.

I am good at helping Architects and Interior Designers who are intimidated by Autocad, ADT, etc. to feel comfortable, get things done. If you are in another field, I will do what I can for you. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS TO QUESTIONER-- MOST DON'T FOLLOW THEM, AND IT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO ANSWER WELL-- THANKS
