AutoCAD/changing defaults

Question
I am using Autocad2008 Electrical. I have installed all the symbol libraries. But when I want to insert a component I am only shown the symbols (for example 2 pole circuit breaker) according to the JIC standard. How can I select and insert in the drawing a symbol from  another standard for example IEC? Can I change the default library from JIC standard to IEC standard. What I want is that when I select the Insert Component or Componet button the IEC standard symbols are show.

Answer
Pat Murnen says:
When you install the software you choose which default standard but when you choose your libraries to install you can install as many as you want. Then for each project you define whether it is JIC or IEC by selecting the Component Tagging options (can be applied to each drawing as this is a drawing setting) and defining which library to use, i.e. JIC or IEC.

Therefore, no way to convert your installation.  A complete reinstallation is what will be necessary, making the choice for IEC when appropriate.

I hope this helps

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
