AutoCAD/freeze / thaw xref layer script

Question
is it possible to freeze and thaw xref layers via script method? I have problems when I enter the pipe symbol "|" , my script treats it as an enter however, the pipe symbol is part of the xref and layer name e.g.: Frame_11x17_Agro|D-Text. I want to Freeze the "D-Text" layer attached to the "Frame_11x17_Agro xref".

Answer
Hi --

I hope you don't mind my best answer---- hopefully applying to the release you use, which you dont reveal to me.

I feel that when I have a problem rately, I might need to just fudge my way through.  If I have it frequently, I need to do something over correctly.

I have no concept of why you need a script for a pipe symbol --- other than old customization habits. For me, the tool palettes got rid of tool buttons to insert blocks, with Acad 2004, so I let the whole concept slide. (many oldtime users would yell at me, but this suits my work and me) I am the "change to the new if I think it is better" kind of guy -- and I am an Interior Designer who does many other things than AutoCAD, so I need it simple (except that I work in 3D)

If you are wanting to run a script which inserts symbols, cool, but do it over, so you dont get this problem. Sorry, freezing layers that should not be affected is a "one time fudge", not a good thing to do as a habit.

Sorry if I have missed your point -- restate it if you like, but I am not up on  creating script files. I forgot it after I learned it, since I did not choose to use it, so I would have to look it up, in a book suited to your release, or HELP.
